The welcome part:

Susan Brooks, a.k.a. Susie, a.k.a. Suz, a.k.a. SuzieQ (yes, I was named after a song, but it’s probably not the one you’re thinking of) am a snarky and direct but exceedingly loving cruel to be kind editor who wants you to succeed as an author. Welcome!

The creds part:

I teach the elements of fiction writing both in workshops and via my blog, The Writer’s Bag of Tricks. I try to post every other week or so, but that depends on my editorial schedule. Be sure to sign up to get notification when a new post is up.

I am also the conference co-chairperson for the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers‘ annual conference, Colorado Gold, which is 3+ days in September of intensive fiction writing workshops for writers of all levels, and I have been an RMFW board member since 2009.

I hold a master’s degree in publishing from George Washington University and am Editor in Chief at Literary Wanderlust, a small traditional press located in Denver,  Colorado.

I occasionally take on freelance projects on top of my normal editorial duties. Check out the freelance services page.

The writerly part:

In my free time (erm…), I also write fiction that I hope will entertain readers. My steamy urban fantasy, A Trick of the Light, was released on July 1, 2018.
